WHAT IS SCAR CAMOUFLAGE?
Scar camouflage is the act of gently microneedling the skin while placing pigment into the scarred area to match the surrounding color. This technique can be used to "blend" the area such as breast scars, areola scars from traumatic breast surgery, brow scars which can cause hair loss, lip scars, and camouflaging vitiligo.
At this time, the actual scar can not be camouflaged if it is DARKER than the surrounding skin. In other words, we can camouflage from light to dark but not the other way around.
However, technology and advances are ever evolving with permanent makeup, and one day we hope to be able to change that! All scars must be at least 18 months old to be treated. ALL of our permanent makeup services use the most gentle microshading process which has excellent retention, soft & natural results, a comfortable experience, and will gently fade within 1-3 years.
VITILIGO SCAR CAMO
Vitiligo is a condition in which the skin loses its pigment cells (melanocytes). This can result in discolored patches in different areas of the body, including the skin, hair and mucous membranes. Permanent makeup can be used to darken these “hypopigmented” areas to match the surrounding skin color and camouflage the area! This is a very customized process and works excellent on areas of the body such as the face, hands, and neck. Please note that the area being camouflage must be lighter than the surrounding area to work.
WHAT ARE BREAST SCARS?
Breast reduction and augmentation can sometimes result in scars, or loss of color to the areola (and sometimes even total loss of the areola). We have seen it all. Opting for more surgeries to fix this can cause even more potential trauma. Permanent makeup can be the least invasive solution to provide the most natural appearance. Restoring color to the natural areola or to scar tissue is a simple way to create excellent results without extra surgeries and scarring.
HOW CAN BROW OR LIP SCARS BE TREATED?
You may have experienced a traumatic event or poorly executed permaneny makeup from another artist. Invasive PMU techniques can leave scar tissue, affect the hair follicles of your brows, or the tissue of your lips. Note: chose your artist wisely.
Scars can take a little more work to correct as the integrity of the skin tissue has been compromised. But fear not, friend. We can deal with this gently and effectively.
Through the advanced PMU techniques used at Outliner Studio, the skin is gently microneedled and therefore microdamaged, which actually breaks up the scar tissue while also placing pigment into the skin to camouflage (blend) the area into the surrounding color. Thus scar camouflage is born.
This service may take an extra touch up because the first application prepares the skin to accept pigment more effectively during the second application.
